1. Two Bees.. Ticket Giveaway
Opening at the Blue Room Theatre next week, this comedic take on the plight of bees is set in a hive undergoing the final stages of collapse, and looks back from the future on a world like our own. With live music and two actors playing nine characters, Two Bees promises to be a silly romp that is a metaphor for a more serious end of the world type of deal.
Two Bees.. will be showing at the Blue Room Theatre from 15 September – 3 October and we have a pair of tickets up for grabs! It will be for a night of your choice during the season, subject to availability. To enter, email firstname.lastname@example.org with Two Bees in the subject line and your name and number in the body of the email by midday tomorrow, Friday 11 September. The winner will be notified by email and called to arrange tickets.

2. New Spring Collection from SURFACE 1°22
Emily Wills has just released her new collection of leggings through Society 6, under her label SURFACE 1°22. The Perth local, who loves drawing, illustration and ornamentation, got into surface pattern design and screen printing through a textiles minor while studying Fashion Design. Her prints are often the result of serendipitous doodling, there’s an emphasis on the imperfection achieved by art making by hand and not over-editing or cleaning up digitally before printing. “I really enjoy digital prints that show pencil markings, texta shading and paper texture,” she says.
Her new range, the #uncamoproject, features jungle inspired leggings in four colourways. “We hit the beach in June to snap our decorated pins in a series of unlikely scenarios where our prints stood out from the natural environment like a pair of inflatable flamingos adrift in the sand dunes.”
As well as designing her own range of leggings, cushions and tote bags that are available to purchase through Society 6, Emily is passionate about passing on her skills to others. She recently returned to Perth after living in Singapore for five years where she lectured in Fashion Textiles at LASALLE College of the Arts and is continuing to teach both at a tertiary level and through workshops that are open to the public. Emily created the Paper Pattern Print project as an accessible, skills based workshop series to help anyone with an interest in surface and pattern design learn easy ways to make beautiful patterns. Keep an eye on our events calendar and her website for upcoming workshop dates.
You can check out the leggings, read about her #uncamoproject and even try your chances at winning a pair over here.
