1. Score Tickets for the Lavazza Italian Film Festival!
Bringing a dash of Mediterranean romance to Cinema Paradiso and Luna on SX is the 2014 Lavazza Italian Film Festival, which will run from 24 September until 15 October and will include 32 new features and documentaries and one classic of Italian cinema.
Of all the national film festivals that come to town, the Italian Film Festival always has the best opening party, and this year it’s happening on 24 September following a 630pm screening of hit film Marina on Wednesday 24 September at Cinema Paradiso. There’s also a closing night film, the Sophia Loren/Marcello Mastroianni classic Marriage Italian Style, to look forward to, and a stack of fun and fresh hits.
We have five double passes to the film festival up for grabs. These can be used at any of the screenings excluding special events. Email firstname.lastname@example.org with Italian Film Festival in the subject line and your name and address in the body of the email by 5pm Sunday 21 September to enter, and we’ll post the five lucky winners out their passes!
2. Rottofest This Weekend
Rottofest returns for its sixth year in another weekend long festival of comedy, film and music. There will be over 25 comedy performers and 12 music acts set to perform across 5 venues on the island. Rottofest 2014 will run over three days, from 19-21 September.
There are still certain tickets available, and you can buy yours over here.
3. First Comes Love this Weekend
Run by the two super cool gals behind Mitchell & Dent and Studio Bomba, this event is a showcase of various independent businesses that can help make your big day (and we’re not just talking weddings here, but any big event you might be hosting) a roaring success.
Everything you need will be under one roof. There will be floral designers, dress designers, invitation designers, photographers, cake makers, jewellers, caterers, venues, celebrants and so much more represented. Head here to read a wrap up of the 2012 event and here for an interview with the two girls who started it.
The First Comes Love Spring Fair is happening this Sunday 21 September at The Oxford Hotel. Check out the website for more info.
