One of the most impressive aspects of Young George, previously known as The Wine Store, is the way the clever folk behind it have managed to do it all without seeming like they’re trying too hard. What they’ve created ticks all the boxes for any small venue.
The layout is sleek and chic but not sterile; the space is full of polished concrete and modern touches but the limestone walls of the original building shine as a comforting feature more than anything wallpaper could do. The knowledgeable and friendly staff are happy to help guide you through the ever changing drink list with daily selections that are personally pulled from the Wine Store’s retail space next door. Given Rob and the team’s dedication to natural and unfiltered wines, it’s no surprise you’ll find something new on offer. The bar food changes as frequently as the wines, with Bloody Mary Sardines and fantastic empanadas on offer when we visited. The only problem is my local is nothing like this place. Dave
