Open since 2009, The Garden has provided Leederville with a much needed relaxing outdoor space for those looking to spend their Sunday afternoons relishing over a jug of Pimms and a serving of salt cod and potato croquettes. Gone are the days where the Leederville Hotel only provided a weekly outing for the young and scantily clad to dance late into the night, this adjoining bar and eatery has a lot going for it. Boasting a pleasant outdoor courtyard, which is styled in brightly coloured furnishings, wooden tables and exposed light globes hanging low over the bar, there is a range of seating to choose from. Sit outside under the shade of the old peppermint gum and enjoy some deli style nibbles along with a beer fresh from the tap. The indoor seating space is surrounded by well considered windows, letting you enjoy the incoming sunshine whilst escaping the elemnts. The informal but well designed restaurant retains a choice of tapas style plates to share, but there are also more substantial meals to be had, such as the Hazelnut Gnocchi, or Venison Osso Bucco. The wine menu is small, but features mainly local selections. Either way, there are few better places to savour those last sweet remnants of your weekend in the late afternoon sunshine.
