The train that used to be above the bar those years ago has gone, but fortunately everything else we know and love about The Scotto remains. At the head of the bar you’ll find the old salts, keeping to themselves as they enjoy their afternoon tipple. Pub grub is devoured from the open kitchen, and beers consumed in all nooks and crannies, by punters young and old. There’s a real mix to be found, with students congregating during the week and locals filling the seats, whether they be popping by for a swifty or settling in for the evening.
Upstairs lies Defectors Bar where you can recline on the balcony and overlook bustling Beaufort Street as time slips away. It’s part of the Scotsman, but without the entire beverage selection on offer. Also adjoined is the Velvet Lounge, playing host to an eclectic range of live music, market set ups and screenings.
Don’t miss the pizza and pint specials on a Sunday, chicken parma and a pint deal on a Thursday, and Happy Hour during the week. Claire.
