Bürgermeister is the German word for mayor, and this Nedlands burger joint is certainly a leader when it comes to mouth watering eats in the area. The burger menu features a tasty combination of meat, fish and veggie options. Lovers of the latter are able to enjoy felafel amongst their choices, an underrepresented food in the burger department. But burgers are only one half of a delicious double header on the menu – hot dogs take pride of place right by their side.
Choose your sausage, fillings and sauces and you’ll soon be digging into your juicy meal. Alongside this fantastic double act you’ll predictably find Bürgermeister’s own chips – deliciously cut, fried and salted – as well as frothy shakes. Don’t forget to ask for some German ketchup to go with those chips, the sweet, curried tomato sauce is a perfect accompaniment. The fit out here is an eclectic mix of old schoolroom chairs, beautiful, reproduction vintage light fittings and a mural made from colourful, old, anodised aluminium pot lids – pretty! Pull up a pew (no really, the long bench seats do resemble pews) and dig into your perfectly crafted American and German fare. Claire
