The Blue Room Theatre has for a long time played an integral part in the independent performing arts scene in Perth, and it continues to do so with a selection of small, independently produced plays taking to its stage throughout the year. You’ll find locally produced ones with actors from Perth alongside internationally acclaimed shows from smaller theatre companies hailing from elsewhere.

The team behind The Blue Room work hard to promote a diverse offering, and are a main support of performing arts practitioners in the state. As well as the usual Members’ Night to kick off each production, what particularly grabs our attention is that most have a Meet the Artists Night during the season, so you can rub shoulders with the actors afterwards. There are also Auslan interpreted nights for each show, and previews with cheaper tickets.

There’s always something new being performed, so be sure to check out their website www.blueroom.org.au to see what’s on. And don’t forget to arrive a bit earlier so you can head on upstairs for a glass of vino enjoyed in the pint sized bar, adjacent to the theatre. Jelena.
