Support local artists this festive season with a visit to Bazaar, Perth’s longest running makers market, at Fremantle Arts Centre from Friday 30 November to Sunday 2 December. Kira caught up with Bazaar vendors Gaelle Beech from The Anjelms Project, Amy Eaton from Oh Happy Home, Julie Ramsay from Bed Tonic and Peter Milligan from Peter Milligan Ceramics to talk about their festive style, wish lists and best sellers.
What do you want when you’re Christmas shopping? I’ll bet unique gift ideas, thoughtfully produced goods and a one stop shop for everyone on your list are right up there. What about supporting Western Australian creatives in a friendly, laid back environment? That too I’d say. This is what you get when you stop by any of Perth’s regular, handmade markets.
Perth Upmarket is happening once again this Sunday 20 March at Winthrop Hall, UWA. Opening at the Blue Room Theatre next week, this comedic take on the plight of bees is set in a hive undergoing the final stages of collapse, and looks back from the future on a world like our own. With live music and two actors playing nine characters, Two Bees promises to be a silly romp that is a metaphor for a more serious end of the world type of deal.
Two Bees.. will be showing at the Blue Room Theatre from 15 September – 3 October and we have a pair of tickets up for grabs!
I discovered Bahru at the last Perth Upmarket event, where designer Fliss Brophy had a stall selling her amazing leather bags. The designs, colours and quality were all exceptional, and I invested in a soft, silver clutch that I take everywhere. With the spring edition of Perth Upmarket coming up this Sunday 13 September, we caught up with Fliss to find out more about her life on a farm in south-west WA and all things Bahru.

They have been awarded the Zomp STYLEAID Creative Award, so STYLEAID attendees this year are going to see their work paraded at the 2014 event this Friday night! Ahead of their big night, we caught up with Karen & Georgina.
We are a bit in love with the lovely frocks from Petra Vanessie. Stunning fabrics mixed with flattering, vintage inspired cuts – what more could you ask for? She’s been on our radar for a couple of years – since a very stylish friend of mine sent me a link to her website, which I’ve been ogling ever since. One day Petra up and left her day job, decided to design clothes, and did it. So it’s about time we interviewed her. Now you can ogle the pretty dresses too!
Yep. It’s Wednesday today. Which must mean it’s hump day. And probably explains why my dress is all crumpled, hair-do out of whack and why I managed to pick out the tights with the ladder running up the back.
