Support local artists this festive season with a visit to Bazaar, Perth’s longest running makers market, at Fremantle Arts Centre from Friday 30 November to Sunday 2 December. Kira caught up with Bazaar vendors Gaelle Beech from The Anjelms Project, Amy Eaton from Oh Happy Home, Julie Ramsay from Bed Tonic and Peter Milligan from Peter Milligan Ceramics to talk about their festive style, wish lists and best sellers.
What do you want when you’re Christmas shopping? I’ll bet unique gift ideas, thoughtfully produced goods and a one stop shop for everyone on your list are right up there. What about supporting Western Australian creatives in a friendly, laid back environment? That too I’d say. This is what you get when you stop by any of Perth’s regular, handmade markets.

If thats you, why not take the pressure off and eat out this Christmas? Here are some fine local establishments that would love to host you on 25 December.

As we sign off for another year and take a couple of weeks to rest and catch up with family and friends, we know that a lot of other local businesses will be doing the same. So where can we all go during our holidays to eat, drink, (shop,) and be merry? Here is a handy guide of some businesses who will open their doors between Christmas Day and the new year.
Merry Christmas to YOU, our fabulous readers! Thanks for being with us throughout 2014. We wish you and your families a safe and happy holiday season.
1. Watch Ashbeclee
Ashbeclee is a web series about three Perth girls, and it’s pretty darn fun! It’s set over one weekend and you’ll spy places like Kings Park, Piccolo’s Corner and Ascot Racecourse.
With the silly season well and truly upon us, we are all feeling extra time poor at the moment. It’s difficult to eat properly when you’re pulling long hours at work, attending Christmas parties, catching up with friends and family and just working through your December to-do list. Here are a few local businesses that are making things easier for us and helping us embrace Christmas and summertime. There are entertainment packs from Dinner Twist, summer BBQ and party packs at Meat Me in the City, Christmas dinner boxes from This Little Pig Went to Market and summer juices from Made Juice to keep our bodies full of the good stuff while on the run!
In the last of our 2014 Christmas Gift Guides we have a stack of ideas that cost just $20 or less, all from local Perth stores or designers. These items are so fun – handy for your office Secret Santa gift, or for your friend that always hosts Christmas drinks insisting on no presents, or even to have on hand in case an unexpected guest turns up for Christmas dinner with nothing to unwrap! These ideas are all pretty special, I’m sure you’ll agree.
