Once upon a time Fremantle was nothing more than a typical port town teeming with blue collar seadogs and new immigrants making their mark. Back in the day, Gino Saccone worked as a tailor in Freo’s main street. In 1983 he was fed up with the Aussies’ poor excuse for a coffee so he turned his tailor shop into the café we love today and created the seed that spread into Freo’s “Cappuccino Strip”. Gino’s is the survivor because the coffee is great, but so is the people-watching and the extensive menu of simple, Italian fare. Dave.
