A popular tourist attraction on the cappuccino strip, the Fremantle Markets attracts a variety of punters. If stalls selling small trinkets, silver jewellery and local mementos are your thing, then the Freo Markets will be right up your alley. Whilst some stalls have been there for years, others are on rotation, so there will often be a new up-and-comer selling their goods. Don’t overlook the fresh fruit and veg section towards the back, where many bargains are to be had, particularly on a Sunday afternoon, and note this section opens an hour earlier at 8am. You’ll also find fresh bread, roasted coffee beans, and a mish-mash of take-away food stalls with anything from corn on the cob to fresh crepes on offer. Whilst it’s yet to have the revival that most inner city markets have experienced, it’s worth a visit for the people watching and atmosphere that the buskers manage to conjure up.
