If you’re in the mood for a beachside beer with ocean views, enjoyed in the glorious afternoon sunshine, then take a left as you go through the main entrance of this iconic hotel. The Cott, as it’s known by the locals, has been there forever. Enjoy your gin and tonic in the fresh sea breeze with the latest beats playing from the stereo, while relaxing on the verandah.
Late afternoons are particularly pleasant times at The Cott, however if you enjoy a bit of personal space, then forgo this place on a Sunday afternoon. While the new owners have turned the tide, attracting a new clientele instead of the old ‘Sunday Sesh’ brigade, flocks of punters continue to head this way for an afternoon tipple to round out the weekend – a testament to its ability to draw a crowd.
Out the back is the swanky new Beach Club, a popular hang out for the beautiful bronzed bodies of Perth. There you can enjoy a drink or stay for a meal – the dishes on offer are exceptional. While the menu changes regularly, you will always find fresh flavours, clever combinations and something to satisfy whether you’re after a light but substantial salad, or a filling bowl of linguine.
But our favourite part? Chuck a right when you enter from Marine Parade and step into Cott & Co. Fish Bar. There you’ll find delicious plates of seafood cooked to order, and a carefully thought out selection of white wines to accompany them. Claire.
