Supplying a large chunk of Perth’s cafe’s and restaurant’s with daily freshly baked bread, Barrett’s is the local bakery that you wish was at the end of your street. With a simple fit out, Barrett’s serves up a large variety of baked breads, which are all baked on the premises. Displayed in baskets behind the counter, I can never go past the ciabatta. Its’ crusty shell and chewy centre come from the 24 hours it’s left for the yeast to ferment. Have a look on their website to read about each variety they produce. The white chocolate and raspberry muffins are perfect for afternoon tea, with an underlying crispy caramel layer that you’ll find yourself trying to pick off the paper. The friands are perfectly moist and the pastries nice and flaky. If you’re around at lunch time, choose from one of their super tasty and fresh gourmet rolls to take away and enjoy on the river foreshore.
